Hawaiian Tourism Authority — 2026 Strategic Plan
Document design, information design, accessibility compliance, dual-format production
The Problem
The Hawaiian Tourism Authority needed its 2026 Strategic Plan turned into a cohesive, publication-ready booklet — for both public print distribution and online release — with ADA compliance required by the client. No accessibility specification existed for the project; the standard had to be researched and applied independently.
The Work
I took the existing plan content and designed it into a unified booklet, recreating several infographics from scratch for clarity where the source material didn't hold up at publication quality. Because no ADA spec was provided, I researched and implemented the requirements myself: readable typography and hierarchy, full alt text for images and graphics, tagged reading order, sufficient contrast, and a layout structure built to support screen readers — not just visual accessibility, but the underlying document structure.
The plan was produced in two formats from a single content base: an InDesign-built booklet with facing-page spreads for print, and a continuous single-page layout for web/PDF distribution — each adapted to how it would actually be read, not just resized from one to the other.
The Outcome
The Strategic Plan is live, publicly available in both print and online formats for the Hawaiian Tourism Authority.
